Dear Planet Hunters,
There's been plenty going on at planethunters.org!
The discovery paper for PH1b, a circumbinary planet in a four-star system and the project's first confirmed planet, has been officially accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal. PH1b has been given an official Kepler designation of Kepler-64b and added to the list of planets in the Kepler field. You can read more about the paper and PH1b on our blog.   
In other news: the site has been updated with fresh data which has never been seen before. These light curves have yet to be fully analysed by the NASA Kepler team, so there are likely to be unknown planets hiding in the data waiting to be discovered. Maybe you'll be the first to spot one!

Dear Planet Hunters,

A note to update you on the latest news from planethunters.org. At the end of May, the Kepler spacecraft suffered a mechanical failure that has potentially ended its exoplanet hunting days. While the Kepler mission may be over, our work has just begun. Planet Hunters has barely scratched the surface, and there are nearly 2 years of Kepler observations yet to be searched on the site. Who knows how many more worlds are left to discover! Help us with the search for planets today at planethunters.org

The science team is working harder than ever on analyzing your classifications and characterizing and verifying new potential planet candidates and eclipsing binaries. On Friday, with any luck we'll be observing some of the project's top planet candidates with adaptive optics imaging on the Keck II telescope on Mauna Kea. In addition, we have 6 undergraduate students joining the team at Yale University this summer to work on Planet Hunters related projects. We'll continue to update you on the science team's progress over the coming months on the blog.

Une note pour vous mettre à jour sur les dernières nouvelles de planethunters.org . A la fin du mois de mai, le vaisseau spatial Kepler a subi une défaillance mécanique qui a potentiellement mis fin à ses jours de chasse d'exoplanètes. Alors que la mission Kepler peut être plus, notre travail ne fait que commencer. Planète Hunters a à peine effleuré la surface, et il ya près de 2 ans d'observations de Kepler encore à rechercher sur le site. Qui sait combien d'autres mondes sont laissés à découvrir! Aidez-nous à la recherche de planètes aujourd'hui à planethunters.org 

L'équipe scientifique travaille plus fort que jamais sur l'analyse de vos classifications et la caractérisation et la vérification de nouveaux candidats potentiels planète et binaires à éclipses. Le vendredi, avec un peu de chance nous observerons quelques-uns des meilleurs candidats de la planète du projet avec l'imagerie optique adaptative sur le télescope Keck II sur le Mauna Kea. En outre, nous avons 6 étudiants de premier cycle joignant à l'équipe de l'Université Yale cet été pour travailler sur des projets liés planète chasseurs. Nous continuerons à vous tenir au courant des progrès de l'équipe scientifique au cours des prochains mois sur le blogue .
