Boinc for Android

message originel de Pascal94

citation

Warning: this version can produce WRONG results and should be used for testing.

(Translated by Google)

Can you please compile an application for Android?
OK, there are not that much smartphones and tablets yet crunching with it, but some are, mine for example.

I've asked the providers of Native BOINC, i.e. BOINC@Poland, who have compiled the apps for MilkyWay and PrimeGrid to do so, but they would be much pleased if you could do it yourself.

Edith says:
They asked me about the source code, and I lead them here, but I don't have the faintest idea where the right source is located there. Anyone here with some insider information? It seems as if matszpk will compile it in the weekend, if he got the right source.

Not the right topic. Not even the right forum I think... Neither boinc@poland nor l'alliance francophone are the developers of boinc client software,  it is Berkeley.

Then by concept boinc is,  in 2012, not adapted to any kind of mobile device: 100% CPU load means overheating and battery consumption. Even with a laptop it's "far from ideal ",  though possible, so a smartphone or a tablet...

Some proof of concept already existed and been quickly abandoned, google for it you should find things.

"google for it", si tu transformes le nom "Google" en verbe, tu ne dois pas mettre de majuscule. ;)

It could be funny to have the BOINC manager on Android (controling another computer), but, as write JeromeC, I can't see how to calculate on a smartphone ou a tablet due to thermic dissipation and battery limitations.

The manager is already up and running, and it was developed, or probably better adjusted and compiled by someone from B@P, that's not what I'm asking for.
It's about the scientific application for WUProp, and that's a project of l'AF, therefore I asked here as well as in the project fora.

As for Native BOINC, the android BOINC developed by our polish friends, it's here, including source codes and the apps for MilkyWay, PrimeGrid, Enigma and Radioactive: https://github.com/matszpk/native-boinc-for-android

Yoyo and Michael Weber are trying to get RNA and perhaps something from yoyo as well over to android in their projects.

That would be much easier to use if you could put this whole thing on the Market ...  :jap:

You have to ask this from the developers, I'm just a user who would like to run WUProp as well on the machine.

… but if it works, your right, Sebastien has to see if he could build an android version of WUProd. ;)

OK,  impressive,  great that someone did it.

Still I don't understand the concept of a smartphone that's going to die after a few hours (or less) running at 100% CPU when I need it to be up and running at least for one day. I don't need a dead brick in my pocket...

Plus I'm not convinced permanent overheating can be any good to a non ventilated device.

It seems to change it's host-CPID, now it's here: http://boincstats.com/de/stats/-1/host/detail/40583762
Or, as those numbers don't change that often, direct at the projects: Milky and Prime

Sehr gut !!! … Aber es ist auf deutsch ! :D

It works. Not so strong but it works! :) Maybe it's about an old machine for results but a better energy use!!! :D

(I'm not fluent enough in german to continue with ;))

I released an application for Linux running on an ARM compatible CPU (Debian ARMEL).
I don't know if this app is compatible with android.

Could you test it?
Please find as an attachment the app_info.xml file and the application.

Edit: You can find source code here
Edit 2: I sent source code to matszpk

Je confirme.
Ca fonctionne sur mon Desire HD.

http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/show_host_detail.php?hostid=35773
