It does seem strange with over 26,000 Wu's available according to the Stats. But maybe they need to catch up on studying the results before anymore are turned in ... ?
Maybe that "Workunits" number is misleading, because it is simply a count of all the WUs in the database, past and present.
Anyway, the reason we're cutting off work is to let some of these outstanding batches finish up. The Lattice BOINC project is hooked up to a Grid system. People have the ability to submit "batches" of jobs to the system. Typically, a given batch is not returned to them until all constituent jobs are complete. We have a number of "outstanding" batches right now that are just waiting on a small handful of jobs (each job corresponding directly to a WU) to complete. The reason they are taking so long is that they were assigned to a relatively rare machine type, so we're waiting for some of these machine types to come through and finish them off.
To avoid this problem in the future, we're looking to modify HMMPfam to eliminate the need to use HR. Additionally, we may upgrade our server software soon to take advantage of some new HR features.
There's more to it than everything I just said, but I'll let y'all ask questions if you'd like =)
Si quequ'un de meilleur que moi en anglais peut traduire, merci .
